Glorious Gardens
The garden has been developed in turn by each Monarch since 1863. Set over 25 hectares (60 acres) and enjoyed by the Royal Family and their guests when in residence, the formal Gardens are open from April – October.
Most recently work has been undertaken to add the Topiary Garden and Lower Maze Garden. Under His Majesties direction to bring horticulture to the fore across the Estate, developing, enhancing, and expanding blank canvas areas.
A collection of Rhododendron, Camellia and Magnolia trees in April and June create more interest, shelter and privacy in the garden.
Much of the planting has now matured and along with a wide range of rare and unusual trees, under planted with shade loving plants, provide a spectacular display for those who enjoy the shape, colour and texture of leaves, stems and bark though the seasons.
Created by Geoffrey Jelicoe in 1947 for King George VI the North End of the garden is informally planted in a cottage garden style and usually at its best in late July

Children’s tickets (under 17), Sandringham Members, RHS, HHA and Carer’s must also obtain tickets before a visit. The time slot selected is your Garden entry time, you can spend as long as you like inside the Garden.
Gardens are open from 10am – 5pm (last entry 4pm).
